Tim Wu and the Oppression of the Majority
Tim Wu, a professor of law at Columbia University, used this title for a recent opinion piece that we saw in the NY Times. As the title suggests, Wu echoes part of our argument, that effectively the consensus of the majority on major issues is prevented from implementation due to the extremes on each side that are unwilling to compromise. He rejects the common assertion that America is divided and polarized, arguing in contrast that the “supermajority” agrees on many of the major issues facing America. Instead, the minorities on each side ignore “what most of the country wants,” which “is what is making the public so angry.”
We agree. Thank you, Dr. Wu, for being fact-based and rational.
