Climate Change Research Conclusion
The US should join every other country in the world in recognizing the reality of climate change and rejoin the world community in the Paris Agreement to help combat it. We can fulfill our obligations in the agreement without compromising our economic vitality.
Summary basis of our Conclusion
The data that cite human activity as a contributor to higher average global temperatures, rising surface temperatures, rising sea levels, and rising ocean acidity levels—all of which contribute to the rising volatility of weather, is compelling. The scientific consensus is that life as we know it is unsustainable without significant investments in technology to lower the aggregate level of greenhouse gases (GHG). Investments and regulations can be made and designed that are both cost effective and affordable.
Countries that set an example
197 countries have acknowledged the reality of climate change and have therefore joined the Paris Agreement. Several of these countries, including the entire EU, set an example for the US to follow. Other than Canada, each of these countries has substantially fewer GHG emissions per capita than does the US.
